IS MICROSOFT WINDOWS 10 SPYWARE?
Many computer users in Australia have flocked to install Microsoft’s newest operating system: Windows 10, as a free upgrade to their current Windows 7/8/8.1 operating system. Like with any new operating system, there will be changes, some we like, some we don’t. The hardest thing to find is what is actually different.
On face value, Windows 10 seems quite similar to Windows 8. There are some extra features here and there, and of course the new Edge internet browser that replaces Internet Explorer. But we aren’t here today to talk about that. One major concern is Microsoft’s new End User License Agreement (EULA) which you have to accept if you are installing Windows 10. Our advice would be to read it carefully, so you understand fully what you are accepting.
If you havent read the EULA, then you might be surprised as to how much information you may be giving to Microsoft, simply through using your new operating system. For example, see excerpt from the EULA:
“When you acquire, install and use the Program software and services, Microsoft collects information about your use of the software and services as well as about the devices and networks on which they operate. Examples of data we may collect include your name, email address, preferences and interests; location, browsing, search and file history; phone call and SMS data; device configuration and sensor data; voice, text and writing input; and application usage.”
This basically translates to “You’re being watched”, and it doesn’t come as a surprise to many.
