Windows Server Security
For example, because you wont get any more security updates for the aging operating system, this means security exploits will be found by hackers, but Microsoft will no longer be patching these exploits.
Another concern is that there is no support from Microsoft, meaning if you have a problem with the operating system, they will no longer be able to advise on a fix for the problem. That can leave you in a tight situation when your server is down and all your staff are spending hours flicking elastic bands at each other, instead of working! Migrating to a newer operating system can be fairly straight forward in some circumstances, or fairly complex in others. There are a number of things that determine this, such as amount of users on the server, which applications you use, database sizes, if you are routing emails through your server or in the cloud, how many servers you have etc. If you are wondering whether now is the time to migrate, the answer is most definitely “yes”. Not migrating now, will likely cost you much more in the future.
